LC Championships Finish Up

Excel Aquatics is Searching for New Swimmers to Train with Wilson County Championship Swimmers!

July 26, 2005……Excel Aquatics is pleased to announce that they will be having an Open Tryout and Placement Trials for new swimmers on August 8th, and then again for new and experienced swimmers on August 22nd. Prospective swimmers will have two free weeks of training to decide if Excel is a good fit for them.

Excel Aquatics is a non-profit year round USA Swimming Club that has had more Wilson County residents qualifying for the Southeastern Swimming Championships than any other club in the region in the past two years. Most recently Bradley Gillilan and Taylor Wallace of Wilson County qualified and swam in the Southeastern Long Course Championships. Gillilan placed 11th in the 13&14 Boy’s 800 Meter Freestyle, 36th in the 400 Meter Individual Medley, and 30th in the 400 Meter Freestyle. Wallace placed 28th in the 13&14 Boy’s 100 Meter Breaststroke.

Gillilan Breaks Another Team Record

Gillilan Gets His 2nd Excel Record!

July 9, 2005……West Wilson Middle School rising 8th Grader, and Excel Aquatics swimmer, Bradley Gillilan set his second team record in the past 6 weeks. On Friday, July 8th, Gillilan participated in the Baylor Bullfrog Invitational in Chattanooga, and swam the 1500 Meter Freestyle in 19:29.22, shaving roughly 5 seconds off the previous record for Excel Aquatics in the 11&12 Year Old Boy’s Category. Gillilan set the record despite having just swam the 200 Meter Individual Medley earlier in the evening. Gillilan had already set an Excel record in the 800 Meter Freestyle back at a meet during the last week of May.

“For Bradley to turn in such a great time in the 1500 after tearing up the 200 IM, was significant. The IM events take a lot of oxygen out of a swimmer, especially the arms and legs, and then to turn around and break the 1500 record was outstanding.” Coach John Barnes noted. “From what I’ve researched, that time in the 1500 is also the fastest time in that event by a Wilson County swimmer in the past 4 years. All of Wilson County should join together and recognize Bradley for his accomplishments this summer.”

The next meet for Gillilan and the rest of Excel Aquatics’ Wilson County swimmers will be the Southeastern Swimming Long Course Championships, July 21st through the 24th.
